Depalletizer single filer maintains proper jug/handle orientation to ensure smooth downstream operations

March 24, 2016

Container orientation is critical for proper filling, capping and label application, therefore, containers that get skewed during bulk depalletizing must be reoriented before moving downstream. A-B-C has eliminated this issue with a single filing module for the Model 108 depalletizer that maintains container/handle orientation as bottles or jugs are transferred from the bulk transfer table to the bottle conveyor.

The depalletizer sweeps each layer in a contained unit from the pallet to the transfer table utilizing a motorized sweep bar that moves with the layer to ensure container stability and load integrity. At the single filing module, the containers travel from the table to the conveyor row by row, maintaining orientation. The module handles square or rectangular containers.

A-B-C’s Model 108 bulk depalletizer is available for low or high level operation, and can run loads to 110” high. The machine operates with A-B-C’s Intelligent Control to ensure simple operation and control from the touchscreen operator panel that also provides complete performance data and troubleshooting capabilities, as well as changeover settings.

Labor saving packer can replace hand packing and increase production

Model 19 packer reduces labor crew to only one operatorMay 11, 2016

Packagers looking to automate their hand packing lines have a simple, cost-effective and reliable alternative with A-B-C’s Model 19 packer. This packer provides smooth and gentle product handling that maintains product integrity as it automatically indexes and accumulates each product load before sliding it through stainless steel loading funnels into the shipping case.

Only one operator is needed to open cases and place them on the case packing funnel, significantly reducing labor and associated costs. This compact machine occupies only 75 square feet of floor space including infeed and takeaway conveyors. It can run speeds to 15 cases per minute depending on operator dexterity, the product and the pack arrangement.

The Model 19 is packed with standard features including powered infeed with product sensors, no case-no load and no product-no load protection, full guarding with see-through panels, easy access operator controls, and product takeaway conveyor. It packs cartons, shrinkwrapped multipacks, rigid and semi-rigid containers into RSC, HSC and display cases and has features to ensure quick changeover.

Decaser/ single filer for wine reshipper cases replaces manual dumping and increases line productivity

Decaser for wine reshipper casesMarch 24, 2016

Wineries who receive their bottles in necks down reshipper cases can automate their hand dumping operation, reduce costs, increase line speeds, and ensure a consistent bottle supply to their filler with A-B-C’s Model 49 decaser. The Model 49 accepts cases from the conveyor either back-to-back or spaced, unloads and single files the bottles, and uprights the empty cases for transfer to case packing. Bottles glide from the case to the impact-absorbing transfer belt and bottle contact is minimized with A-B-C’s unique single filing module. These features work to maintain bottle stability and protect the glass integrity. By replacing the hand dumping operation, the decaser eliminates the related risk of employee injury from repeated lifting and emptying of heavy cases.

The Model 49 has special features to accommodate case size variations, including a soft roller system that utilizes an automatic tensioner to ensure smooth case transit throughout decasing. The 180-degree case turnover securely holds the cases as they are oriented before discharge. The Model 49 runs RSC, HSC, and RSC tablock cases at speeds to 50 cpm, and offers quick and easy changeover.

New case erector brings high end production features to midrange production lines

New case erector brings high end features to midrange production linesOctober 12, 2015

At Pack Expo Las Vegas, A-B-C debuted the Model 300 case erector for 15-25 cpm production lines–a midrange machine that offers key production features of A-B-C’s higher speed Model 330 erector to deliver 24/7 reliable operation in a streamlined machine designed to ensure accelerated ROI.

Key production features include an ergonomic, low-level KD magazine that is easy to load and includes automatic stack indexing that frees the operator for other tasks. The top-feeding KD magazine accommodates warped and band-marked cases and the cam-operated erecting arm over-opens cases by the outer flaps to ensure reliable inner flap folding. A mechanical main drive powers the walking beam case transfer that positively squares cases as they travel.

The Model 300 also includes clear sliding guards as standard equipment that offer high visibility and protect plant personnel by stopping the machine when opened. Maintenance is simplified with easy-access, exterior-mounted motors, sealed bearings, water eliminator, non-contact sensors and case backup eye. Changeover can be completed in minutes with no tools and simple crank adjusts to set points.

“We designed the Model 300 case erectors to give packagers in the 15-25 cpm market a solid production machine at a reduced price point. Our markets include food and dairy processors, snack manufacturers, small beverage companies, petfood manufacturers, household, personal care, and chemical manufacturers,” said Bryan Sinicrope, A-B-C VP, sales and marketing. The Model 300 is available in both tape and adhesive sealing models.
